Term twos Inquiry/Topic was to be in a group of three to research and make a slide about the Treaty Of Waitangi. I was in a group with Gracie and Reese we worked well together. Adrenaline pumping, the 5 and 6 year olds await their next game. Hungry for fun and some bored. We modeled and gave examples. Now it was time...

I tried to ciece their attention for they were forgetting to run back the skipping ropes. Like an ice-cream toppling over they fell off the stilts. Going around the bending poles and after that jumping into the hula hoops. “change direction”.

Group after group came while the other group we were paired up with had their rotation, me and Reese set up.

Although hard work I enjoyed the challenge and I am hoping we get to make integrity games next year.     

The Bike Trip

The Bike Trip                                    By Isla My legs yawned. They were tired and so was I. But I kept going. I hopped off, there was no way I was staying on. After I turned I hopped back on, I got scared so I biked at my own pace. Slow. Everyone took over me, I hopped off a lot as I was scared going down hill. Oh no. My chain had come off and my eyes started to fog up. Although someone helped me a tear dribbled down my face. In the end I made it back,panting but glad. Lily was waiting ready to greet me. “Do you want to go again?” I smiled. This time round I was much more confident and only hopping off sometimes.

This term we have been doing art as our topic.We had pick a message to show in each of our pieces of art. my message is stop killing animals just for there horns,tusks and there fur. These are some of the types of art we have been doing:
starry night
cubism
photography
graffiti
and a choice of our own

starry night;
we had to recreate Vincent van goghs starry night. To do this we had to use small strokes and put our message in the bottom half of the picture.

photography;
we had to take a picture of some thing that showed our message clearly. This is my photo:

`we got to choose a style/artist and copy it but we also had to give it our own twist.

Graffiti:
we had to choose an effective word to show our message and make it look like it was done  by spray.

Kahikitatea Team stayed at the Puriki mari for the night we did heaps of activities including a potluck dinner.
weaving
we got taught how to make a flower out of flax. The next day the people who where good at the flower
the day before made a different type of flower also made out of flax.
CARVING
For carving we were all allowed to chose a mori design. we then drew our chosen design and got into
groups of three. we all took turns to use the equipment.

Whai Kathie taught us some fun games to play with  roako sticks. we had to have a buddy and copy/listen to whaia Kathie

Shelter for Little Spotted Kiwi

This is my plan and a model of a shelter I designed for a little spotted kiwi.
My modifications were made because I only had cardboard not wood.  I also put a spider in there because I learnt that kiwi eat spiders.

Kiwi are an endangered species.  It is my responsibility to care for the environment so that kiwi have a healthy country to live in.

Bees

Bees

The scientific name for a bees is apis. A bee is an insect as well as an invertebrate. There are lots of  different types of bees.

Habitat
When bees are wild they live in a wild hive. If they are not wild they live in a hive on a farm. When bees are wild the make their own colony. People make hives for the bees that are not wild.

Description
A bees tongue is called a proboscis. It is used to suck nectar from flowers. On their body bees have four wings and six legs to help them move. They have antennae on their head and black and yellow stripes on their body to warn predators that they are poisonous.

Dynamics
Bees only make 1/12 of teaspoon in their life. bees can dance, they use their dancing for communication they can only fly up to five miles from the wild hive. Bees are only able to see blue. Bees can't fly in the rain.

Honey bees are quite close to extinction. To make the earth a better place for bees, we can stop wasting honey and stop annoying them so they don't sting us and die.
